This website was created by a North American tourist who witnessed firsthand, on two separate occasions, how two honest, struggling Kenyans were extorted by traffic police for fabricated reasons. Bribes were paid in cash to avoid leaving a paper trail, with the alternative being a court case with little chance of winning. Neither individual could report the incidents due to the requirement to do so in person, which would have resulted in further loss of work time and income. Additionally, they feared that reporting the police would lead to their vehicles being blacklisted, resulting in more frequent stops. Although this website has no legal standing in Kenya, its aim is to highlight the issue and deter traffic police from engaging in corrupt behavior through social pressure. We take utmost care to ensure that only those officers who are clearly and repeatedly breaking the law are reported.
