What is the purpose of this website?
This website aims to help reduce corruption in Kenya by publishing a monthly list of the most reported traffic police officers. By highlighting corrupt behavior, we hope to create a deterrent effect and encourage honest policing. Our goal is to support and elevate the status of diligent, hardworking officers while discouraging corrupt practices.
How do we collect and verify reports?
We rely on reports from the public to gather data about traffic police officers. Each report is carefully reviewed, and we use advanced algorithms and security systems to cross-check information and verify its accuracy. This helps ensure that only credible reports are considered.
How do we ensure the accuracy of the reports?
To maintain the integrity of our data, we employ sophisticated verification methods and cross-referencing techniques. We also encourage multiple reports from different sources before listing any officer. This helps us filter out false accusations and ensure that only genuine cases of misconduct are highlighted.
What measures are in place to prevent framing innocent officers?
We are acutely aware of the risk of innocent officers being framed. To prevent this, we use advanced algorithms to detect inconsistencies and patterns that may indicate false reporting. Additionally, we require multiple independent reports before listing an officer, significantly reducing the likelihood of wrongful accusations.
How often is the list of reported officers updated?
Starting from beginning of July 2024, the list of reported officers is updated on a monthly basis. This allows us to keep the information current and relevant, reflecting the latest data from public reports. Regular updates also provide a continuous deterrent against corrupt behavior among traffic police officers.
Who created this website and why?
This website was created by a North American tourist who personally witnessed corruption by traffic police in Kenya. After seeing how two honest, struggling Kenyans were forced to pay bribes, the creator was motivated to take action. The website aims to highlight and combat this issue through social pressure and public accountability.
Does this website have any legal standing in Kenya?
While this website does not have any legal standing in Kenya, its purpose is to raise awareness about corruption and encourage honest behavior through social pressure. We hope that by shining a light on these issues, we can contribute to positive change, even without formal legal authority.
How can the public contribute to this effort?
The public can contribute by reporting instances of traffic police misconduct through our website. Every report is valuable and helps build a comprehensive database of corrupt behavior. By participating, the public plays a crucial role in promoting transparency and accountability.
What should you do if you see your name on the list?
If you see your name on the list and believe it is a mistake, please contact us immediately. We are committed to accuracy and fairness, and we will review your case thoroughly. If we find that an error has been made, we will promptly remove your name from the list. Our email is: nocorruptionkenya@gmail.com
How does this website support honest and diligent officers?
By focusing on reporting only those officers who are clearly misbehaving, we aim to distinguish between corrupt and honest officers. Our efforts highlight the integrity of the majority of the police force, thereby supporting and promoting those who diligently serve the public. This helps to create a positive image of the police force as a whole.
